STEWARDS OF THE COAST

Whale-watch volunteers are needed to assist state park visitors in observing the annual Pacific gray whale migration along the coast of the Russian River state parks district from January to May. Prospective volunteers can attend a presentation Nov. 14 at the Bodega Bay Grange about the 40-ton whales and the logistics of being a State Parks Whale Watch docent. The orientation will include the history of the gray whale, responsibilities of volunteering with state parks and an ocean safety talk from a lifeguard. For information or to register, call 869-9177, ext. 1#, or e-mail to rherrick@mcn.org. The Web site is www.stewardsofthecoastandredwoods.org
